DTSSS is a general practice law firm situated in Polokwane, the hub of Limpopo. Established in 1923, the firm is currently headed by two dynamic partners, Stefan Steyn and Corne Spruÿt, with the support of 13 permanent staff members.

History

“What a privilege it is, to be part of a well-established firm like Du Toit, Swanepoel, Steyn and Spruÿt (DTSSS)”

Those are the words of both our partners, Stefan Steyn and Corne Spruÿt.

Our firm was founded in 1923 by Mr. F. Van Zyl Slabbert and Mr. P.W. Roos, and at that time the partners practised law in Polokwane under the name Slabbert and Roos Attorneys.

Through the years, the firm has seen many changes, faced many challenges and was moulded into the firm known today as Du Toit, Swanepoel, Steyn and Spruÿt (DTSSS).

Stefan Steyn joined the firm in 1985. He completed his B.Proc degree at the Northwest University, Potchefstroom.

He was admitted as an attorney on January 26, 1988 and as a conveyancer on March 12, 1996.

He is an accomplished sportsman and finished various Comrades Marathons in support of a wide array of charitable organisations. He is also associated with the Limpopo Association for People with Disabilities and takes an active interest in the assistance and motivation of other professionals and persons with disabilities.

He lost his eyesight due to a genetic disease. “I had to adapt and teach myself to make use of technology to assist me in my work.” The development in technology throughout the years has assisted him to practice law, and today, he is a well-established attorney in Polokwane and serves as Commissioner of the Small Claims Court.

Corné Spruÿt completed his B.luris and LLB degrees at the University of the Free State and was admitted as an attorney on June 18, 1998. He is a well-known attorney in Polokwane with extensive knowledge in various areas of practice and also serves as a Commissioner of the Small Claims Court.

He is an avid sportsman and adventure seeker, enjoying various sports from scuba diving to sport shooting. He has excelled in golf, volleyball and karate, a sport in which he holds a second-degree black belt. He has a passion for nature and conservation and was an Honorary Ranger.
