|“It is an honour and privilege to be part of a well established firm like Du Toit Swanepoel Steyn & Spruÿt that has so much history.” These are the words of, Stefan Steyn and Corné Spruÿt, the two partners in this law firm which celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2013.
Steyn joined the firm in 1985. He completed his B.Proc degree at the Northwest University, Potchefstroom, previously known as the Potchefstroom Universiteit vir Christelike Hoër Onderwys (PUvirCHO).
He was admitted as an attorney on January 26, 1988 and as a conveyancer on March 12, 1996.
Steyn finished 12 Comrades Marathons of which 4 were completed in support of the Bible Society of South Africa. He is also associated with the Limpopo Association for People with Disabilities and takes an active interest in the assistance and motivation of other professionals with disabilities.
He lost his sight due to a genetic disease. “I had to adapt and force myself to use tools that help me with my work. My cell phone, laptop, watch and computer talks to me so that I can go on with my daily activities,” said Steyn. Steyn married his university sweet- heart in 1986 and they have three children.
Spruÿt completed his B.luris LLB degrees at the University of the Free State and was admitted as an attorney on June 18, 1998.
He is an avid golfer and participates in many charity golfing days with the firm sponsoring the Du Toit Swanepoel Steyn & Spruÿt trophy.
Spruÿt is a keen sportsman and adventure seeker, enjoying various sports; from scuba diving to snow boarding. He has excelled in both volleyball and karate, a sport in which he holds a second degree black belt. He has a deep love for nature and is an honorary ranger.
The two partners say they look forward to building on the history of the firm, focussing on excellent client service.
